Two men charged after firearms seized from Halifax hotel room
HALIFAX, N.S. — Two men in their 30s have been arrested and charged with firearm offences following a hotel room search in Halifax on Tuesday.
At about 10 p.m., Halifax Regional Police officers located two men, both being sought on outstanding warrants, at a hotel on Kearney Lake Road.
A search of their room was conducted, and officers seized a loaded firearm and ammunition.
Jeremy William Coleman, 31 and Steven Andrew Coleman, 35, were scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court on Wednesday to face the following charges:
- Possession of a firearm or prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime;
- Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm;
- Possession of a firearm without a licence or certificate;
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm;
- Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace;
- Storing a firearm or restricted weapon contrary to regulations;
- Unsafe storage of a firearm; and
- Four counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a court order.
Coleman is facing an additional charge of failing to comply with a probation order.
