UK police investigate fire at British PM Keir Starmer’s north London home

British police are currently investigating an overnight fire that caused damage to the door of Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s house in north London. Starmer, who has been renting the property since his election in July, resides with his family at the official Downing Street residence.
The London Fire Brigade was alerted to the incident just after 1 a.m. local time. Two fire engines quickly responded to the scene, extinguishing the small blaze within half an hour. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The Metropolitan Police force confirmed that the property’s entrance suffered damage, but no individuals were harmed during the incident. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, with cordons in place while inquiries continue.
Starmer’s residence in the Kentish Town neighborhood has been a target for protesters in the past. Last year, three pro-Palestinian activists were arrested and charged with public order offenses after displaying a banner covered in red handprints outside the house.
This incident comes amidst a backdrop of heightened security concerns for political figures around the world. Recently, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and his family were evacuated from the governor’s mansion after a suspected arsonist set fire to the property.
As authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the fire at Starmer’s house, it serves as a stark reminder of the need for vigilance and security measures to protect public figures and their residences.
