US lawmakers back Iranian resistance movement as Hamas and Hezbollah fall

A bipartisan group of 151 lawmakers is coming together to show their support for the Iranian resistance movement in a resolution ahead of a hearing with an opposition leader. Led by Rep. Tom McClintock, R-Calif., the resolution expresses solidarity with the Iranian people and their desire for a \”democratic, secular, and non-nuclear\” Iran through regime change.

The resolution emphasizes that the Islamic Republic of Iran is the main source of terrorism and warmongering in the Middle East region. It condemns the oppressive practices of the Iranian regime, voices support for the opposition, and calls on global leaders to continue imposing sanctions on Iran.

The resolution also highlights the alarming human rights abuses taking place in Iran, including the execution of 500 prisoners in the first four months of Masoud Pezeshkian’s presidency. It also notes the increase in hand amputations under the regime.

The resolution specifically expresses support for Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), and her 10-point plan for bringing democracy, secular government, and human rights to Iran. The plan has garnered support from 4,000 parliamentarians worldwide and calls for the establishment of NCRI as a provisional government to pave the way for free elections and a constituent assembly.

The resolution was introduced ahead of a hearing titled \”The Future of Iran,\” where Maryam Rajavi will testify. This hearing is hosted by the Congressional Iran Human Rights and Democracy Caucus and aims to shed light on the current situation in Iran and the prospects for change.

President Donald Trump has expressed hesitancy towards regime change in Iran, but the resolution argues that the time for change is now. With the Iranian regime facing increasing pressure both domestically and internationally, the resolution calls for a united effort to support the Iranian people in their quest for freedom and democracy.

Maryam Rajavi is expected to address the hearing by highlighting the fragile state of the Iranian regime and the growing discontent among the Iranian population. She will call for the implementation of United Nations snapback sanctions and urge global leaders to recognize the resistance movement for regime change in Iran.

The resolution is likely to provoke a strong reaction from Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Iranian regime, and supporters of Reza Pahlavi II, who oppose the NCRI. However, the bipartisan group of lawmakers remains committed to standing with the Iranian people in their fight for a better future.

As the Trump administration renews its \”maximum pressure\” sanctions campaign targeting Iran, the resolution underscores the need for continued international support for the Iranian resistance movement. With tensions escalating between the U.S. and Iran, the resolution serves as a reminder of the urgent need for change in Iran and the importance of standing up for human rights and democracy.
