Veteran Miramichi Conservative says MP Jake Stewart can’t win

Former federal Conservative candidate Mike Morrison from Miramichi is speaking out against current party MP Jake Stewart, expressing his doubts about Stewart’s ability to win in the upcoming federal election. Morrison, who has reached out to Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre’s office with his concerns, believes that Stewart has alienated many Conservative supporters, including his own staff and volunteers.

Morrison, a veteran political organizer and two-time candidate, claims that Stewart is hiding from constituents and former allies, leading to a toxic atmosphere within the party organization. He points to the fact that several individuals, including his son Shawn, were fired or resigned from Stewart’s office due to what Morrison describes as Stewart’s temperamental behavior.

The financial agent for the Miramichi-Grand Lake Conservative riding association, Denver Brennan, also resigned citing a toxic and manipulative atmosphere in Stewart’s office. Morrison confirmed the departures, attributing them to Stewart’s behavior and noting that former campaign donors are no longer supporting Stewart.

Despite his efforts to raise concerns with Poilievre’s office, Morrison has not received a response. He believes that the local Conservative Party organization in Miramichi is now non-functional and that the upcoming election could be jeopardized by Stewart’s actions.

Morrison, who helped build the local Conservative Party organization in Miramichi, is disappointed by the current state of affairs. He recalls working on campaigns that led to the party’s breakthrough win in the riding and organizing events that garnered federal attention. However, he now feels betrayed by Stewart’s behavior, particularly referencing text messages that he perceived as mocking his health struggles.

Ultimately, Morrison feels a sense of responsibility to speak out about the issues within the party, as he believes that the volunteers and donors who supported the Conservatives in Miramichi deserve to know the truth. Despite the lack of response from the national party, Morrison is determined to ensure that the concerns he has raised are heard and addressed.
