Recently released bodycam footage from the Waterbury Police Department sheds light on the disturbing case of Kimberly Sullivan, a Connecticut woman accused of locking her stepson in a storage closet for 20 years. In the footage obtained by Fox News Digital, Sullivan can be seen denying that her stepson was imprisoned in their home, despite the harrowing details that have emerged.

The incident unfolded on February 17, when authorities responded to a fire at Sullivan’s residence. Her 32-year-old stepson was rescued from the burning home, where he had allegedly been held captive and subjected to abuse for decades. Sullivan’s daughter arrived at the scene in a black Acura and waited nearby as firefighters extinguished the blaze.

During the footage, Sullivan, 56, is seen explaining to an officer what occurred after the fire broke out. She claimed that her stepson accidentally started the fire by plugging in a TV, and that she called out to him when she smelled smoke. Despite her claims that the door to his room was not locked, police allege that Sullivan was lying.

Subsequent investigations led to Sullivan’s arrest on March 12, where she was charged with assault, kidnapping, unlawful restraint, cruelty to persons, and reckless endangerment. The victim, known as “Male Victim 1,” was reportedly confined to a small, windowless closet without access to basic necessities. He weighed less than 70 pounds when he was rescued.

The arrest warrant revealed that the victim was allowed minimal food and water, and was forced to use bottles for bathing and waste disposal. Shockingly, he had been kept inside the closet for up to 24 hours a day. The victim later told authorities that he intentionally set the fire in a desperate attempt to escape his captivity.

Additional footage captured Sullivan’s distraught 911 call reporting the fire, as well as police officers urging the victim to exit the burning home. The victim, visibly frail and malnourished, told paramedics that he had not showered in a year. Sullivan, in a state of panic, requested to retrieve her belongings from the house, including her dog.

Sullivan’s attorney, Ioannis Kaloidis, declined to comment on the case. As the investigation continues, the shocking details of this horrific incident have left the community reeling. Stay tuned to Fox News for updates on this developing story.
