Wastewater system overflow near Northwest Arm in Halifax diverted

HALIFAX, N.S. — Halifax Water says a wastewater system overflow near the Northwest Arm area has been diverted and is being treated. Wastewater is no longer overflowing into the Northwest Arm, according to a news release issued Thursday evening.

A wastewater system backup caused the issue, and residents in some parts of the city were asked to reduce drain flushing while crews worked to return the system to normal.

Residents are strongly advised to keep themselves and their pets away from activities that require entering or coming in contact with the water in Northwest Arm until further notice.
