Waterloo University Takes 3 Victims to Hospital
Waterloo Regional Police (WRPS) were at the University of Waterloo (UWaterloo) around 4pm local time after receiving reports of several people stabbed in an incident.
In a tweet on June 28, police said there would be “an increased police presence in the area”.
A short time later, WRPS announced on social media that they had taken one person into police custody and three victims had been taken to hospital. It is not known whether the stabbed students or teachers were from the university.

In a series of tweets, UWaterloo said they supported police in their investigation, assuring the public “there is no further risk to our campus community.
The university advised students and faculty at Hagey Hall to leave the building immediately and to leave all doors open. At about 5:30 p.m. local time, university officials issued an update stating that all classes scheduled for the evening of June 28 at Hagey Hall had been canceled.
“All other campus operations will continue as usual,” the university said.
Brad Hickey, an officer with the WRPS, told The Epoch Times that police are very early in the investigation and will release more details as they become available.
“We can confirm at this time that three victims were stabbed while in Hagey Hall at the University of Waterloo,” Hickey said.
The officer said all three victims were transported to hospital with bodily injuries.
“The severity of the injuries is unknown at this time. One person has been taken into police custody,” the officer said.
“Expect an increased police presence on campus as officers continue to evacuate buildings and ensure public safety,” he added.
