Yarmouth man charged with stunting after being clocked at 146 km/h

CLYDE RIVER, N.S. — RCMP have charged a 21-year-old Yarmouth man with stunting after allegedly travelling 66 km/h over the posted speed limit.

A member of the Shelburne RCMP was patrolling Highway 103 in Clyde River around 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 7 when an SUV sped past the squad car, clocked at 146km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

The driver was pulled over and charged with stunting which carries a fine of $2,422.50 for a first offence, six points on a drivers’ license and an immediate seven-day suspension.

Shelburne RCMP reminds drivers that as temperatures continue to drop, days grow shorter and wildlife become increasingly mobile, making it even more important to follow road safety and speed limits.
