ATCO Receives Approval for Yellowhead Pipeline Project Needs Assessment

Energy infrastructure developer ATCO ACO-TXT announced on Friday that the Alberta Utilities Commission has approved their request for a needs assessment for the Yellowhead Pipeline Project.

The Yellowhead Pipeline project spans over 230 kilometers from colleagues to Fort Saskatchewan in Alberta, with an estimated investment of $2.8 billion. It is expected to deliver more than 1.1 billion cubic feet per day.

ATCO’s Investment in Natural Gas for Alberta’s Energy Needs

The approval for the needs assessment marks the first of two crucial regulatory milestones that ATCO needs to navigate to advance the project.

ATCO plans to submit a separate application later this year to seek approval for the construction of the infrastructure, which is scheduled to commence in 2026.
