Mother fasting as she demands search of Regina landfill for daughter’s remains

Michele Bear is a mother who has been tirelessly advocating for the search of her daughter Richele’s remains, which she believes are located in the Regina landfill. Richele Bear was tragically killed by Clayton Eichler in 2013, along with another young woman named Kelly Goforth. While Goforth’s body was found in a dumpster, Richele’s remains have never been recovered.
Despite efforts to get information from Eichler during his court proceedings, he claimed not to know the whereabouts of Richele’s body. This has left Michele Bear with the heartbreaking task of searching for her daughter’s remains on her own. She has been camping out near the entrance of the landfill and has started a hunger strike to bring attention to her cause.
The Regina Police Service has stated that they will pursue all leads and information to help locate Richele’s remains. They have been in regular contact with Michele to ensure her safety and to maintain open lines of communication with her.
Michele’s determination to find her daughter’s remains is fueled by successful landfill searches in other cities. In Saskatoon, the remains of Mackenzie Trottier were discovered after a thorough search of the landfill. Similarly, in Winnipeg, the remains of Morgan Harris and Marcedes Myran were found after a search at the Prairie Green landfill.
Michele Bear’s advocacy for a landfill search not only seeks justice for her daughter but also aims to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future. She fears that if the City of Regina does not take action to search for missing women in dumpsters, more lives may be lost and their remains discarded without a second thought.
As Michele continues her fight for closure and justice, she remains hopeful that her efforts will lead to the discovery of Richele’s remains and bring some peace to her grieving family. Her unwavering determination serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of never giving up on seeking answers and seeking justice for those who have been lost.
