Marco Rubio holds first meeting with families of hostages held by Hamas

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently met with the families of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza to discuss ongoing efforts to secure their release. The meeting, held in Washington, D.C., marked Rubio’s first official engagement with the families since taking office.
During the meeting, Rubio reiterated the Trump administration’s commitment to securing the release of all 50 remaining hostages. The families in attendance included relatives of Omri Miran, Evyatar David, Lt. Hadar Goldin, and Eitan Horn, among others. Rubio’s wife, Jeanette, and son, Anthony, were also present at the meeting.
Rubio emphasized that true victory in Gaza would only be achieved when all the hostages were safely returned home. He highlighted the U.S. government’s track record of leading significant initiatives in the Middle East and expressed confidence in Israel’s ability to defeat Hamas.
The families stressed the importance of securing the release of all hostages in one comprehensive deal, rather than through phased or partial agreements. They expressed trust in the Trump administration’s ability to act decisively and urgently to bring their loved ones home.
“We’ve waited long enough,” the families said in a joint statement. “It’s time to make brave decisions and bring all our loved ones backāall at once.”
The meeting underscored the ongoing efforts to secure the release of hostages held by Hamas and highlighted the importance of international cooperation in addressing the issue. Rubio’s engagement with the families demonstrated the U.S. government’s commitment to supporting efforts to bring all hostages home safely.
