Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s mayoral campaign has denied seeking help from anyone in the race for Gracie Mansion, including former President Donald Trump, despite reports suggesting otherwise.
POLITICO’s New York Playbook reported that Cuomo is “counting on” Trump to urge Republicans to vote for him instead of the Republican nominee, Curtis Sliwa, in the upcoming mayoral election. However, Cuomo’s senior advisor clarified that Cuomo was speculating on a hypothetical scenario.

Cuomo’s campaign emphasized that he is New York City’s “only chance” of defeating the Democratic mayoral nominee, Zohran Mamdani, despite Sliwa distancing himself from Trump and criticizing Cuomo’s policies.
Meanwhile, Sliwa mocked Cuomo for seeking a Trump endorsement and highlighted the impact of Cuomo’s policies on New Yorkers, particularly regarding crime and COVID-19 measures.

Trump and Cuomo have both denied any communication regarding the mayoral race, with Cuomo expressing a willingness to cooperate with Trump if necessary.
The Mamdani campaign seized on the reports, branding Cuomo as Trump’s preferred candidate and accusing him of avoiding questions about his own record.

Despite the ongoing political drama, the White House has dismissed rumors of Trump getting involved in the mayoral race, emphasizing his lack of intention to endorse any candidate.
As the race for Gracie Mansion intensifies, Cuomo and his opponents continue to spar over policies, endorsements, and their vision for New York City’s future.
