Yukon to provide extra nominations for permanent stay

New Nomination Spaces Allocated for Yukon Nominee Program in 2025

This year, Yukon has received a total of 67 nomination requests for the Yukon Nominee Program (YNP). The federal government has increased the total number of nomination spaces for 2025 to 282, up from the initial allocation of 215 spaces due to PNP allocations being reduced by 50%.

The announcement of the increased allocations was made by the government of Yukon on August 21, 2025. As a result of processing Carry requests, invitations to Apply (ITAs) have already been sent out, with 13 ITAs issued in August 2025.

Throughout the year, Yukon has advocated for additional nomination spots on behalf of employers. In March, the YNP transitioned to an Expression of Interest (EOI) system and received over 500 submissions from employers looking to nominate foreign nationals for Yukon immigration.

The EOI intake opened on March 31 and closed on April 22, with ITAs being issued to employers who have nominated candidates meeting specific criteria:

  • Have resided and worked in Yukon for at least a year;
  • Graduated from a Yukon post-secondary institution;
  • Are French-speaking (Francophone); or
  • Have received a temporary support letter from the province for a special Yukon work permit.

Almost 400 EOI submissions align with the provincial priorities outlined above.

ITAs Issued in 2025

A total of 54 Carry requests from 2024 were processed by January 22, 2025, resulting in 161 remaining nominations. Between May 23 and May 27, the YNP issued a total of 153 ITAs, including:

  • 19 recipients of temporary support letters (2024 Carry-over applications);
  • 54 recipients of temporary support letters (2025);
  • 78 applicants matching other priorities such as Francophone immigration or graduation from a Yukon post-secondary institution; and
  • 2 professionals in regulated health care positions.

Out of these ITAs, 13 were withdrawn by either the employer or the department, leaving a total of 80 remaining ITAs. The YNP has set aside 10 spaces for individuals in regulated health care positions until September 20, 2025.

About the Yukon Nominee Program

To be eligible for nomination under the YNP, candidates must have a full-time, permanent job offer from a qualified employer in Yukon and meet specific stream criteria. The YNP comprises four streams, each with unique eligibility criteria.

Candidates falling under NOC 4 or 5 are eligible for the Critical Impact Worker Stream, while those with NOC 0, 1, 2, or 3 positions can apply through the Skilled Worker or Express Entry streams, provided they meet all criteria.

Employers interested in registering with the YNP must submit an EOI and be selected to apply to nominate candidates who meet provincial priorities. If an employer receives an ITA, they can proceed to nominate the foreign national.

Upon approval of the nomination, both the foreign national and employer must sign a Tri-Partite Agreement (TPA) with the Government of Yukon. This agreement allows the candidate to apply for permanent residency with Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) within six months.

Additionally, Yukon offers the Yukon Business Nominee Program for entrepreneurs seeking to settle in the province, which has its own set of eligibility criteria and requirements.
