Another suspected member of the Tren de Aragua gang was apprehended in Washington, DC on Monday evening, as Attorney General Pam Bondi continues to report on the arrests made following the federal law enforcement intervention in the nation’s capital.

According to the Department of Justice, there have been a total of 1094 arrests and 115 illegal firearms confiscated.

“87 additional arrests and 4 illegal guns seized last night in Washington, DC — where no carjackings have occurred in the past week. We also apprehended another member of the Tren de Aragua gang and an individual caught desecrating the American flag in Lafayette Park. Let’s Make DC Safe Again!” Bondi shared on X on Tuesday morning.

Bondi had announced the day before the arrest of another alleged member of the Tren de Aragua gang, a criminal organization based in Venezuela. Recent days have seen numerous arrests related to immigration and individuals with alleged ties to MS-13.

President Donald Trump declared the federal intervention earlier this month, resulting in the deployment of National Guard troops from various states and several federal agencies such as ICE and the FBI conducting operations in DC.

The increased law enforcement presence supplements the efforts of the Metropolitan Police Department, with federal appointee Terry Cole, administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration, overseeing operations.

Despite its grim implications, there were no homicides this week for the first time in memory,” the president shared on Truth Social on Friday.

On Monday, Trump issued an Executive Order abolishing cashless bail for individuals arrested in DC, sparking swift criticism from some local Democrats.

“The decision to detain individuals before trial should be based on their flight risk or potential threat to public safety – not their financial status. Cash bail perpetuates a justice system with unequal treatment, where indigent individuals remain imprisoned simply due to their inability to afford bail,” DC Attorney General Brian Schwalb expressed on X on Monday night.

“This Executive Order dismisses effective, evidence-based policies for political reasons — a cause for concern for all Americans. Public safety and justice are reinforced when local authorities retain control. This overt federal overreach violates the core principle of self-governance upon which our nation was founded and does not enhance public safety,” Schwalb concluded.
