A video released by the Department of Homeland Security showed Kilmar Abrego Garcia uttering the words “gobierno corrupto,” which translates to “corrupt government” in Spanish.
The footage captured Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran man, restrained and escorted by an individual identified as “POLICE ICE.”
The Department of Homeland Security shared the video on X, stating, “He doesn’t belong here. He won’t be staying here. America is a safer nation without this MS-13 Gangbanger in it. Good riddance.”

The footage captures the moment of Abrego Garcia’s arrest by ICE officers on Monday.
“U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers detained Abrego Garcia in Maryland on Monday for federal immigration violations,” a DHS press release stated, adding that he is facing deportation to Uganda.
Legal Battle Surrounds Abrego Garcia’s Deportation to Uganda
Abrego Garcia’s deportation to Uganda has sparked a legal dispute.
“Kilmar Abrego Garcia is not and will never be a Maryland Man—he is a criminal illegal alien from El Salvador and public safety threat,” a senior DHS official emphasized.
“President Trump and Secretary Noem are determined to prevent this illegal alien—who is an MS-13 gang member, human trafficker, serial domestic abuser, and child predator—from endangering American citizens any further,” the official added.
No Criminal Convictions for Abrego Garcia
According to Politico and the Washington Post, Abrego Garcia has no criminal convictions.
Earlier this year, a court filing disputed any association between Abrego Garcia and MS-13.
“Plaintiff Abrego Garcia is not a member of or has no affiliation with Tren de Aragua, MS-13, or any other criminal or street gang,” the document submitted by Abrego Garcia’s legal team asserted.
