REPORT: Zary signs three-year extension

The Calgary Flames have solidified their roster by signing forward Connor Zary to a new three-year contract extension worth US$3.775 million annually, as reported by Sportsnet’s Eric Francis. This move marks the final piece of business for Flames GM Craig Conroy this off-season, ensuring that the 23-year-old restricted free agent will remain with the team.

Zary, who was the Flames’ first-round draft pick in 2020, made an immediate impact in his rookie season with 14 goals and 20 assists. Despite being sidelined with two knee injuries during the 2024-25 season, he still managed to contribute 13 goals and 14 assists in 54 games played. Zary’s potential and versatility have not gone unnoticed, as the Flames may consider utilizing him at centre this upcoming season.

The new contract also signifies that Zary will be ready to hit the ice when training camp begins. While his deal may not be as lucrative as some of his counterparts, such as Matt Coronato who signed a seven-year, $45-million contract earlier this year, Zary’s value to the team is undeniable. With his skill set and determination, he is poised to continue making significant contributions to the Flames’ success on the ice.
