Epstein estate to begin sending files to House Oversight Committee today

The House Oversight Committee is ramping up its investigation into the late financier Jeffrey Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell, with trustees of Epstein’s estate expected to start handing over documents to Capitol Hill lawmakers on Monday.
Committee Chair James Comer issued a subpoena last month, requesting a range of files, including Epstein’s “birthday book,” will, and information on his 2008 non-prosecution agreement. The highly anticipated “birthday book,” compiled by Maxwell for Epstein’s 50th birthday, is said to contain personalized messages from Epstein’s contacts, providing insight into his personal connections.
Lawmakers are also seeking information on Epstein’s financial transactions, call and visitor logs, and any documents related to potential clients involved in sex trafficking facilitated by Epstein. The estate’s executors have indicated their willingness to comply with the subpoena and provide the requested documents.
In addition to documents from Epstein’s estate, the House Oversight Committee has released about 33,000 pages of files obtained from the Department of Justice (DOJ). This includes information related to Epstein’s controversial non-prosecution agreement in 2008.
The committee is also set to interview Alexander Acosta, the former Trump administration labor secretary and U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida during the time of Epstein’s non-prosecution agreement. Acosta’s transcribed interview is scheduled for September 19.
Last week, members of the House Oversight Committee met with Epstein survivors to discuss the ongoing investigation. The committee continues to pursue leads and gather information in its efforts to uncover the full extent of Epstein’s crimes and those involved.
