Police arrest third person in Devon Marsman homicide

Halifax Regional Police have arrested a third person in connection with the homicide of 16-year-old Devon Sinclair Marsman.

Emma Maria Meta Casey, 23, was arrested in Dartmouth on Wednesday. She has been charged with accessory after the fact to murder, indignity to human remains and obstructing justice.

Casey was scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court on Thursday.

Police said in a news release Thursday that they anticipate more arrests in connection with the case.

Human remains that police believe to be Marsman’s are with the Medical Examiner’s Office for identification and police will provide an update once the work is complete.

Police believe there are other people they haven’t spoken to yet who have information about what happened to Marsman. Anyone with information can reach police directly by calling 902-490-5020.

Marsman was last seen on Feb. 24, 2022, in the Spryfield area of Halifax, and was reported missing on March 4, 2022.

Earlier this month, two men were charged in connection with his death.

Treyton Alexander Marsman, 26, was charged with second-degree murder, indignity to human remains and obstruction of justice. Police confirmed there is a “familial relationship” between Devon Marsman and Treyton Marsman but would not elaborate.

The second accused, a 20-year-old man, is charged with accessory after the fact to murder and obstructing justice. He cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act because he was a youth at the time of the homicide.
