Tim Scott launches bid to chair NRSC as GOP seeks to capitalize on new minority gains
Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., has announced that he is running to lead the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) for the 2026 midterm cycle. In an exclusive statement to Fox News Digital, Scott shared his excitement for the opportunity to continue the Republican agenda and build on the successes of the Trump administration.
Scott, who ran for president in the 2024 Republican primary and later endorsed Trump, is confident that with Trump in the White House and Republicans leading the U.S. Senate, the party can protect its majority in 2026 and create opportunities for all Americans. He emphasized the importance of four years of success under Trump’s presidency, citing low inflation, secure borders, and safe streets as key priorities for the party.
The South Carolina senator has received endorsements from current NRSC Chairman Steve Daines, R-Mont., Senate Republican Conference Chairman John Barrasso, R-Wyo., and Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla. These high-profile endorsements reflect the confidence that party leaders have in Scott’s ability to lead the NRSC and protect and grow the Republican majority.
Scott’s bid for the top NRSC role comes at a time when the Republican Party and Trump have seen significant gains among minority voters. As one of only four Black senators in Congress and the only Black Republican senator, Scott has made efforts to reach out to minority voters through events and initiatives focused on financial literacy, opportunity zones, and school choice.
In addition to his outreach efforts, Scott has collaborated with other Black Republican representatives to launch a video series called “America’s Starting Five,” dedicated to amplifying the voices of Black members of the GOP. These initiatives demonstrate Scott’s commitment to expanding the party’s reach and engaging with diverse communities.
The election for the NRSC chair will be held on Nov. 13, and Scott is poised to bring his vision and resources to the role in order to compete and secure Republican victories in the upcoming election cycle. With the support of party leaders and a track record of promoting conservative values, Scott is prepared to lead the NRSC and advance the Republican agenda in the Senate.
