2025 Grammy nominations: Canadians named

Canadian Music Producers Shine at Grammy Awards

The Grammy Awards saw several Canadians making a mark for their contributions to Beyonce’s hit song “Cowboy Carter.” Among them were producer Nathan Ferraro, producer and songwriter Dave Hamelin, and songwriters Megan Bulow and Elizabeth Lowell Boland.

Beyonce’s album garnered a total of 11 nominations at the Grammys, with Toronto producer Nathan Ferraro receiving three nominations, including one for record of the year.

Nathan Ferraro, along with German-Canadian songwriter Megan Bülow and Calgary-raised Elizabeth Lowell Boland, received nominations for song of the year and best country song for their work on “Cowboy Carter.”

Another Canadian making waves at the Grammys is audio engineer and mixer Serban Ghenea, who secured five nominations for his work on various major releases across key categories.

Serban Ghenea earned a nomination in record of the year for Taylor Swift’s “Fortnight,” as well as nods in album of the year for Sabrina Carpenter’s “Short n’ Sweet” and Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department.”

Halifax-raised hitmaker Cirkut also received two nominations for his collaboration with Charli XCX on “Brat,” including a mention in the album of the year category. His work on the track “360” earned him a nomination for record of the year as well.

The Weeknd made an appearance in the best melodic rap performance category for his feature on Future’s “We Still Don’t Trust You,” while Charlotte Day Wilson’s “Cyan Blue” is in the running for best engineered album, non-classical.
