Chilling Google searches lead police to arrest active-duty Marine in alleged murder of escort
An active-duty Marine, Willie Ellington, was recently arrested in connection with the murder of reality TV star Tshey Ronaie Bennett. Florida investigators were led to Ellington after Google searches raised suspicions regarding Bennett’s disappearance. Ellington, who was stationed at the Naval Air Station Pensacola, was charged with first-degree murder and possession of child pornography by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
Bennett, 26, was reported missing after being last seen meeting Ellington at the Sweet Dream Inn. Authorities identified Bennett as an “escort,” but did not provide further details about the purpose of their meeting. Bennett appeared on the first season of HollyHoodTV’s series “Skrippa Bootcamp,” which focused on aspiring and elite dancers perfecting their craft while living together.
Due to the suspicious circumstances surrounding Bennett’s disappearance, investigators treated the case as a potential homicide. Bennett’s car and phone were found at the inn, but the bedding was missing. Her body was later discovered in a pond in an abandoned neighborhood in Mobile, Alabama.
Ellington attempted to flee via bus and had incriminating Google searches on his phone, including queries about strangulation and the appearance of a dead body over time. The cause of Bennett’s death has not been publicly disclosed by the sheriff’s office.
The District One Medical Examiner’s Office has also not released Bennett’s cause of death as of the latest update. A friend of Bennett, Muranda Newson, expressed her grief on Facebook, highlighting Bennett’s role as a mother and the pain caused by her untimely death.
