Altadena boy details horrifying moments leading up to loss of home

The wildfires in Southern California continue to rage on, leaving many homes and businesses in ashes. Celebrities have taken to social media to express their disappointment at the loss of their belongings, but for one family in Altadena, the devastation hits much closer to home.
In a heartbreaking interview with Fox 11, a young boy from Altadena stands next to his mother and brother amidst the wreckage of what used to be their home. The boy, holding onto the only two things he has left in the world, recounts the terrifying moments leading up to the loss of their house.
“The power went out, and then we were going to get our dad, but he was coming. Then we had power, flashlights, they’re so good and I went and they woke us up, me and my brother. And then we left our house,” the boy bravely recalls. He mentions that his prized 3D printer, a special possession, was among the items lost in the fire.
As the little boy shows the reporter the burnt remnants of his parents’ bicycles, he expresses his sadness over the loss of his home. He mentions that their chimney, where Santa would come, is now gone, taking away the possibility of presents in the future.
The mother, also devastated by the loss, took to social media to share her mental exhaustion as the family tries to pick up the pieces of their life. She reveals that the 3D printer mentioned by her son was something they had eagerly awaited for over a year.
The family had little time to react as the fire rapidly spread, fueled by strong winds. They managed to escape with their kids and dogs, but the pain of losing everything is overwhelming. The mother’s post emphasizes the heartbreak of the loss, despite being grateful for their safety.
The Eaton Fire, one of several wildfires plaguing the Pasadena-Altadena area, has already impacted nearly 30,000 acres and put around 15,000 homes and buildings at risk. Firefighters are working tirelessly to contain the fires, but the strong Santa Ana winds continue to pose a challenge.
As families like the one in Altadena work to rebuild what they have lost, the community comes together to offer support and assistance. The road to recovery will be long and difficult, but with resilience and unity, they hope to overcome the devastation caused by the wildfires.
