Winnipeg Sculptor Creates Fire-Breathing Ice Dragon Sculpture
A Winnipeg artist has once again captured the attention of his community with his latest creation – a fire-breathing ice dragon sculpture. Leigh Keast, residing on Aberdeen Avenue, has transformed his front lawn into a magical display that not only showcases his talent but also adds a touch of whimsy to the neighborhood.
Keast shared with CTV News Winnipeg that the idea for the ice dragon came to him spontaneously, and he couldn’t resist bringing it to life through his sculpting skills. Despite facing challenges due to the lack of fresh snow, Keast persevered and carefully crafted the intricate details of the dragon.
The highlight of the sculpture is its ability to shoot fire, thanks to a cleverly designed line connected to a propane tank. This unique feature adds an element of surprise and enchantment to the already impressive artwork.
Keast is known for his creative snow and ice sculptures, having previously crafted a motorcycle and a race car earlier this year. Each of his creations elicits a sense of awe and wonder from onlookers, with the artist himself enjoying the reactions of passersby.
Over the years, Keast has sculpted various figures, including The Grinch, Looney Tunes characters, and even a depiction of COVID-19. His dedication to his craft and his ability to bring imagination to life have made him a beloved figure in the Winnipeg community.
As Keast approaches his 10th year of sculpting, there is anticipation for what he will create next. His innovative and captivating sculptures continue to inspire and delight, leaving a lasting impression on all who have the pleasure of viewing them.
