Republican Tudor Dixon praises Trump as she eyes 2026 run for governor or Senate in key battleground

Michigan business executive and conservative commentator Tudor Dixon is considering another run for statewide office in her home state in 2026. Dixon, who was the 2022 Republican gubernatorial nominee, is weighing whether to run for the open Senate seat or the governor’s office.
In a statement on social media, Dixon expressed her desire to do the most good for Michigan and highlighted the unique opportunities presented by both races. She emphasized her commitment to the America First agenda and praised President Donald Trump for his leadership on issues such as border security, bringing manufacturing jobs back to the U.S., and promoting energy independence.
Dixon’s announcement comes as Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat, is term-limited and unable to run for re-election in 2026. Several candidates from both parties have already declared their intentions to run for governor or the Senate seat being vacated by retiring Democratic Senator Gary Peters.
Among the Republicans in the race are state Senate Minority Leader Aric Nesbitt and former Rep. Mike Rogers, who narrowly lost the 2024 Senate race to Democrat Elissa Slotkin. On the Democratic side, candidates include Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist, and Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson.
Other potential candidates include Rep. John James and Rep. Bill Huizenga for the Republicans, and State Sen. Mallory McMorrow and Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel for the Democrats. Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg recently ruled out a Senate run in Michigan, fueling speculation about a potential 2028 White House bid.
With the political landscape in Michigan heating up, Dixon’s decision on whether to run for governor or the Senate will have significant implications for the state’s future. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
