Nova Scotia chiropractor charged with two more counts of sexual assault

A Kentville Chiropractor Faces Additional Sexual Assault Charges
A Kentville chiropractor, Philip Louis LaPierre, 72, is facing two additional counts of sexual assault. According to Kentville Police Services, LaPierre is scheduled to appear in court in April to address these new charges. This announcement comes after an investigation was launched last October following allegations from an individual who claimed to have been sexually assaulted twice in 1983 by LaPierre when he was a licensed chiropractor.
This is not the first time LaPierre has faced legal trouble. Last September, he was charged with a single count of sexual assault for an incident that allegedly occurred in 2024. His trial for this charge is set to take place over two days later this year.
In 2007, LaPierre was charged with sexual assault but was ultimately acquitted. However, a disciplinary hearing conducted by the Nova Scotia College of Chiropractors found him guilty of professional misconduct and issued a reprimand. Additionally, in 2008, LaPierre faced further disciplinary action for offenses that were determined to have occurred prior to the 2007 incident. On this occasion, he was once again found guilty of professional misconduct and fined $2,500.
As a result of these legal issues, LaPierre is no longer practicing as a chiropractor. It remains to be seen how the upcoming court proceedings will unfold and what impact they will have on his professional standing.
