Florida police arrest man for making ‘written threats to kill’ Trump
A Florida man, Glen DeCicco, was arrested on Friday for allegedly making threats to kill President Donald Trump on social media. The Jupiter Police Department charged DeCicco with making written threats to kill, following an investigation into his online activity targeting Trump.
The investigation was initiated after the police received a concerning Facebook post from DeCicco. Detectives confirmed that he had indeed made a written threat directed at the President. Working closely with the U.S. Secret Service, the police conducted interviews with DeCicco without incident.
Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi expressed gratitude to the Jupiter Police Department for their swift response and collaboration in the case. He emphasized the seriousness with which threats against the President or any Secret Service protectee are taken. Guglielmi urged the public to report any suspicious activity to law enforcement to prevent potential harm.
This incident is not the first social media threat against Trump originating from Florida. In a similar case, Shannon Depararro Atkins of West Palm Beach was charged in January for making violent threats against the President on Facebook. Additionally, Michael M. Wiseman was arrested by Jupiter Police in July for written threats to kill Trump and Vice President JD Vance after making threatening posts on Facebook.
Trump has also faced two assassination attempts in July and September, highlighting the dangers posed by such threats on social media platforms. It is crucial for law enforcement agencies to remain vigilant and take swift action against individuals who make violent threats against public figures.
