MINNEAPOLIS, MN – The Democratic National Committee’s (DNC) annual summer meeting in Minnesota turned into a battleground as Democrats grappled with internal divisions despite efforts to project unity.
Amid calls for a stronger response to counter President Donald Trump’s agenda, DNC Chair Ken Martin criticized the president, labeling his administration as “fascism dressed in a red tie.”
Martin emphasized the need for a more aggressive approach, stating, “We cannot be the only party that plays by the rules anymore.”

DNC Vice Chair Malcolm Kenyatta echoed Martin’s sentiments, emphasizing the need to fight for working people and families. He compared the party’s approach to a game of checkers against the Republicans playing Grand Theft Auto.
While calls for unity were prevalent, disagreements emerged during discussions on the Israel-Hamas conflict, underscoring divisions within the party.

The DNC’s Resolutions Committee faced contentious debates over resolutions related to the conflict, highlighting differing views on the party’s stance.
Despite these challenges, DNC leaders emphasized the importance of staying unified to challenge the Trump administration and steer the country in a new direction.
As the party strives to regain ground lost in previous elections, DNC Chair Ken Martin remains optimistic, pointing to recent electoral victories and record fundraising efforts.
