AOC faces criticism from World Series champion over Boulder response

Former MLB star Kevin Youkilis recently called out Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez after the lawmaker responded to the attack on those advocating for the release of Israeli hostages in Hamas captivity in Boulder, Colorado. Ocasio-Cortez expressed her horror at the attack in a social media post, stating that she stands with the victims and Jewish communities across the country. She emphasized the need to confront and stop anti-Semitism wherever it exists.

Youkilis, who is Jewish, took issue with Ocasio-Cortez’s response and questioned what actions she has taken to address those who have called for intifadas in New York. He criticized what he called “virtue signaling” after incidents of violence, stating that without a concrete plan of action, such statements hold no weight.

The former Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees player called for brave leadership from politicians, urging Ocasio-Cortez to confront radical mobs chanting for intifadas in NYC. He highlighted the reluctance of politicians on both sides of the aisle to address such issues out of fear of losing votes and power.

The recent violence in Boulder, described by the FBI as a targeted terror attack, involved Mohamed Sabry Soliman using homemade incendiary devices to set fire to eight people advocating for the return of Israeli hostages. Soliman, who was in the country illegally at the time of the attack, was eventually apprehended by authorities.

The victims, ranging in age from 52 to 88, were participating in a Run for Their Lives event to raise awareness about the Israeli hostages still in Hamas captivity. One victim remains in critical condition following the attack.

The incident has once again brought attention to the rise of anti-Semitic extremism in the United States, with Youkilis and others calling for strong leadership and action to confront such hatred. As the nation grapples with these troubling trends, it is clear that more needs to be done to ensure the safety and security of all communities.
