Aubrey Plaza addresses loss of her husband

Aubrey Plaza Speaks Out Following the Tragic Death of Husband Jeff Baena

Aubrey Plaza has broken her silence after the heartbreaking loss of her husband, acclaimed writer and director Jeff Baena.

“This is a devastating tragedy. We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support during this difficult time. We kindly ask for privacy as we navigate through this grief,” Plaza expressed in a statement provided to People magazine.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed that Baena tragically took his own life last Friday at the age of 47.

The couple had been together since 2011 and tied the knot in 2021. They frequently collaborated on various projects over the years.

Plaza was slated to present at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday but opted not to attend. Filmmaker Brady Corbet, while accepting an award, sent his thoughts to Plaza and Baena’s family.

Plaza and Baena notably worked on films like “Life After Beth” (2014) and “The Little Hours” (2017), as well as the series “Cinema Toast” (2021) and the film “Spin Me Round” (2022).

Reflecting on their partnership in a recent interview, Baena described Plaza as “awesome” and emphasized the unique joy of creating together as both spouses and collaborators.

In addition to his work with Plaza, Baena co-wrote the critically acclaimed “I Heart Huckabees” (2004) and “Horse Girl” (2020), and directed “Joshy” (2016).

Baena is survived by Plaza, his parents, step-parents, and siblings, leaving behind a legacy of creative brilliance and a profound impact on those who knew him.
