Black Caucus chair accuses Trump of trying to ‘purge’ non-White workers

Congressional Black Caucus Chair Yvette Clarke has accused President Donald Trump of attempting to \”purge\” non-White workers from the federal government. During a press conference in Brooklyn, New York, Clarke criticized Trump for his response to a recent midair collision in Washington, D.C. involving a Black Hawk military helicopter and an American Eagle passenger plane.
Clarke condemned Trump for suggesting that diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts may have played a role in the tragedy. Trump speculated about the crash during a press conference, insinuating that the Biden administration’s hiring practices may have led to the incident. Clarke called Trump’s remarks evidence of a racist agenda and accused him of furthering his administration’s purge of America’s minority employees.
While investigations into the collision are ongoing and no specific cause has been identified, Clarke expressed outrage at Trump’s comments and labeled his agenda as racist. She criticized him for not empathizing with the families of the victims or attempting to unify the nation in the wake of the tragedy.
Clarke warned that Trump’s actions could lead to a government that is as White and male as his administration desires, and she accused him of vilifying and demonizing America’s diverse workforce. Democrats have criticized Trump for tying the collision to DEI policies under the previous administration, while some on the left have blamed Republican policies for the incident.
Efforts to reach the White House for comment on Clarke’s remarks were unsuccessful. Elizabeth Elkind, a politics reporter for Fox News Digital, covered the story and highlighted Clarke’s strong condemnation of Trump’s response to the midair collision.
