Calgary police issue dangerous person alert in relation to double homicide investigation
Calgary police have issued a dangerous person alert for the city following a double homicide investigation that began on Sunday night. The alert warns residents about Benedict Kaminski, a 38-year-old man who is considered armed and dangerous with a firearm in areas of northwest Calgary or northwest of the city limits.
Authorities have linked Kaminski to the deaths of a man and a woman who were discovered in separate locations in the city’s northwest on Sunday night. The first victim, a man in his 70s, was found dead in the Kincora neighbourhood on Kincora Grove N.W. after police responded to reports of a person in medical distress around 9:30 p.m. Later that same evening, at 11:15 p.m., a second victim, believed to be the man’s daughter, was found dead in the Tuscany neighbourhood on Tuscany Ridge Heights N.W. The woman was in her 30s.
The police believe that both deaths were targeted and domestic in nature. Investigators are currently searching for a black Nissan Pathfinder with the Alberta license plate CLN-5276, which they believe was driven by Kaminski. He is described as approximately six feet tall with brown and grey hair, brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a grey, red, and white T-shirt.
Authorities suspect that Kaminski may be in northwest Calgary or near the Bearspaw area, located northwest of the city. Residents of Bearspaw, Rocky Ridge, Tuscany, and surrounding areas are advised to be vigilant and to avoid opening their doors to strangers.
Autopsies for both victims are scheduled for Friday to determine the exact cause of death. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information on Kaminski’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Calgary Police Service immediately.
The safety and security of Calgary residents remain a top priority for law enforcement officials as they work diligently to apprehend the suspect and bring justice to the victims and their families.
