As deportation efforts intensify under President Donald Trump, local Republican Party officials are emphasizing the importance of removing immigrants who pose a threat to public safety. This sentiment comes after an incident in South Carolina where an immigrant truck driver caused chaos by claiming to have a bomb in his 18-wheeler.
Ahmad Jamal Khamees Alhendi, a 28-year-old Jordanian national, was stopped by state transport police for a missing license plate on his tractor-trailer. He then made a false bomb threat, leading to the shutdown of a major highway while law enforcement agencies conducted an investigation. Alhendi, who entered the U.S. legally in 2018 but failed to comply with the terms of his stay, was arrested and issued an ICE detainer.
The incident, which occurred near mile marker 44 on I-85, caused significant traffic delays and raised concerns among residents following recent terrorist attacks. It also highlighted the need for stricter immigration enforcement to prevent such disruptions.
State Sen. Tom Fernandez emphasized the importance of enforcing immigration laws to protect communities, while Drew McKissick, chair of the South Carolina Republican Party, criticized the lax immigration policies under the Biden administration. With Trump back in the spotlight, there is hope for prioritizing the rule of law and public safety.
ICE has initiated mass deportations targeting individuals who pose a public safety threat, starting with those like Alhendi. Trump’s recent executive orders on border security further underscore the administration’s commitment to securing the border and ensuring the safety of American citizens.
Alhendi appeared in court and was charged with conveying false information about a bomb threat, breach of peace, and driving without a license. Despite being denied bond due to his immigration status, he remains in custody pending a hearing before an immigration judge in 2026.
The South Carolina Department of Public Safety continues to lead the investigation, with support from federal agencies like the FBI. Stay informed with Fox News for updates on this developing story and other exclusive content.
