Canadian brewery selling pack of 1,461 beers to cope with Trump’s presidency

In the midst of the chaotic news cycle under U.S. President Donald Trump, Moosehead, a long-standing Canadian brewer, has come up with a unique solution to help customers cope – the Presidential Pack. This special pack contains a whopping 1,461 beers, each in 473-millilitre cans, which is marketed as “just enough Canadian lagers to get through a full presidential term.”

The concept behind the Presidential Pack is simple – one can of beer per day for the next four years, including the leap year. Moosehead’s marketing director, Karen Grigg, explained in an interview with CBC News Network that the company wanted to tap into the sense of Canadian pride they were seeing and the response to this initiative has been overwhelming.

Initially, Moosehead made just five Presidential Packs, each priced at $3,490 plus tax and deposit. To their surprise, the first pack sold within 11 minutes of its launch, and all five packs were sold out within 24 hours. Due to the high demand, the company made another five packs, which also sold out quickly. As of now, more than 100 people are on a waiting list for additional packs.

Moosehead, based in Saint John, N.B., prides itself as Canada’s oldest independent brewery and the largest fully Canadian-owned brewer. The company has received positive feedback from customers in both Canada and the U.S. Many have expressed amusement on social media, while some have joked that one beer a day may not be enough to cope with the news cycle.

Customers who have purchased the Presidential Pack have indicated that they plan to share the beers at Canada Day celebrations and other large community events. However, beer connoisseurs suggest that consuming the beers over four years may lead to a decline in quality, so it might be better to enjoy them sooner rather than later.

The release of the Presidential Pack has also shed light on the challenges faced by Canadian businesses due to Trump’s tariffs on Canadian goods. Moosehead’s initiative is currently only available to residents of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Ontario, as the company can only retail in these provinces due to interprovincial trade restrictions. However, with recent developments in trade agreements, Moosehead is hopeful that they can expand their reach nationwide.

In the midst of trade barriers and challenges, Moosehead remains committed to delivering the massive crates of beer to their customers. Grigg assured that the company is determined to find a way to get the Presidential Pack to every location, no matter the obstacles. With the support of loyal customers and the spirit of Canadian resilience, Moosehead’s Presidential Pack stands as a beacon of hope and unity during uncertain times.
