Musk’s DOGE effort faces key hurdle as judge slated to issue ruling

The Trump administration’s efforts to streamline the federal bureaucracy are facing a significant obstacle as Judge Tanya Chutkan prepares to rule on a temporary restraining order sought by more than a dozen states. These states have accused Elon Musk of taking unconstitutional actions in his quest to identify government components that can be eliminated or reduced in size.
Musk, who is leading the charge in this initiative, has garnered praise from the political right for his efforts. However, he has faced scrutiny and criticism from many on the political left, particularly in relation to DOGE probes.
Despite the controversy surrounding Musk’s actions, President Donald Trump has thrown his support behind the push to eliminate government waste. In a recent post on Truth Social, Trump declared, “DOGE: BILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF WASTE, FRAUD, AND ABUSE BEING FOUND. CAMPAIGN PROMISE. IMPORTANT FOR AMERICA!!!”
In a late-night post on Sunday, Musk drew attention to discrepancies in the Social Security database, noting that millions of individuals are listed as being between the ages of 100 and 159, with the “death” field set to FALSE. Musk humorously speculated, “Maybe Twilight is real and there are a lot of vampires collecting Social Security.”
A report from the Social Security Administration Office of the Inspector General revealed that there were approximately 18.8 million more “living” number holders aged 100 or older in the database than the U.S. Census Bureau estimates to be alive in the country. This discrepancy raised concerns about the accuracy of the data maintained by the administration.
In response to criticism from Senator John Fetterman, Musk defended his actions, emphasizing the need to address the waste and fraud that is draining the country’s resources. He highlighted the importance of ensuring that taxpayer dollars are spent wisely and that personal information is secure.
An interview featuring Trump and Musk is scheduled to air on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity” on Tuesday night, offering further insights into their efforts to reform the federal government. As the debate over government efficiency and accountability continues, Musk remains steadfast in his commitment to driving change and addressing systemic issues.
