Dozens of Republican governors pledge to work with Trump on mass deportations: ‘We stand united’
In a groundbreaking move, Republican governors from across the United States have thrown their support behind President-elect Trump’s plans for a historic mass deportation campaign next year. The governors, numbering 26 in total, have pledged to work closely with the incoming administration to ensure the successful execution of this bold initiative.
Led by Republican Governors Association (RGA) Policy Chair Henry McMaster, who is also the governor of South Carolina, the governors issued a joint statement expressing their unwavering commitment to making America safe again by addressing the illegal immigration crisis and deporting individuals who pose a threat to communities and national security.
The governors highlighted their proactive stance in the face of what they deemed as inaction by the Biden administration in addressing the border crisis that began in 2021. They emphasized their utilization of state resources, including law enforcement and National Guard units, to protect Americans from the consequences of open border policies and prevent illegal immigration from overwhelming the country.
President-elect Trump has promised to kickstart the deportation campaign upon taking office next year. He has appointed Tom Homan, the former acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) director, as the border czar, and nominated South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem to lead the Department of Homeland Security. Both Homan and Noem have endorsed Trump’s vision for the mass deportation operation, with Homan specifying that the primary targets will be public safety threats.
While some Democratic governors have voiced their opposition to cooperating with the administration on deportations, the Republican governors have reiterated their steadfast support for Trump’s agenda. They expressed pride in welcoming back a leader who consistently prioritizes America’s interests and vowed to assist in removing dangerous criminals, gang members, and terrorists who are in the country illegally.
The governors affirmed their readiness to deploy all available resources, including state law enforcement and the National Guard, to aid President Trump in this critical mission. They emphasized the urgency of taking action and declared their commitment to making America safe once again.
Representing states such as Alabama, Florida, Texas, and Virginia, among others, the governors collectively endorsed Trump’s efforts to restore law and order at the border. The state of Texas has even offered over 1,400 acres of land to facilitate mass deportations, with Homan already laying out plans for its utilization.
As the nation gears up for this momentous deportation campaign, the Republican governors stand united in their support for President-elect Trump’s bold vision. Their resolute commitment to safeguarding American communities and upholding national security underscores their dedication to ensuring a safer and more secure future for the country.
