Elections Nova Scotia website, phone number were down temporarily for some voters
Some voters in Nova Scotia faced difficulties on Tuesday morning while trying to access the Elections Nova Scotia website or phone line to locate their polling stations. The website failed to load for many users, while the toll-free phone number directed callers to a message stating that “the customer you dialed isn’t available right now.”
Due to concerns about the pending postal strike, Elections Nova Scotia chose not to send out information cards to registered voters. This decision left voters relying on the website or phone line for polling station information. The election was announced on October 27, and the Canada Post strike began on November 15.
In response to the technical issues, Elections Nova Scotia released a statement explaining that the high volume of calls and website traffic had caused delays and connection problems. The organization assured voters that both the website and phone number (1-800-565-1504) were back up and functioning properly.
One voter, Rochelle Owen, shared her frustration with the situation. She had attempted to access the website and phone line to gather information for a family member but encountered technical difficulties on both platforms. Owen expressed concern about the impact on the democratic process, stating, “The second line of communication is totally gone.”
It is essential for voters to have easy access to information about polling stations during an election. With the technical issues resolved, voters in Nova Scotia can now utilize the Elections Nova Scotia website and phone line to find the information they need to cast their votes.
