Elon Musk Defends Department of Government Efficiency Amid Criticism from Schumer

Elon Musk, appointed by President Donald Trump to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), responded to criticism from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, emphasizing the importance of DOGE’s mission.

Schumer accused DOGE of conducting a hostile takeover of the federal government, calling it an “unelected shadow government” in a social media post.

Elon Musk, in a social media post, described the efforts of DOGE to reduce government waste and bureaucracy as a crucial opportunity. He dismissed Schumer’s claims as “hysterical reactions” and reaffirmed the significance of DOGE’s work.

Musk reiterated that DOGE is not a legitimate government agency and lacks the authority to make financial decisions or violate federal laws. He urged Congress to take action to uphold the rule of law.

Describing DOGE as “the wood chipper for bureaucracy,” Musk emphasized the importance of the initiative in restoring democracy and eliminating bureaucratic hurdles.

In response to concerns raised by Schumer about potential misuse of Treasury payment systems, Musk assured that DOGE does not access private financial data and focuses on preventing fraud and wasteful spending.
