Florida housekeeper assaulted, robbed employer, 83, who could not afford suspect’s Christmas bonus: ‘Grinch’

Heather Nelson, a 29-year-old housekeeper in Florida, made headlines after allegedly assaulting and robbing her 83-year-old employer on Christmas Eve. The shocking incident occurred when Nelson found out that her elderly employer could not afford to pay her the $500 Christmas bonus she was demanding.

According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Nelson attacked the elderly woman after she was informed that there was not enough money for the bonus. She forcefully took the victim’s checkbook, stole a check, and even went as far as stealing Christmas cards that contained checks meant for others.

Sheriff Wayne Ivey condemned Nelson’s actions, describing her as a “Grinch” who had gone too far. The victim suffered a nearly broken wrist during the assault. In addition to the physical harm, Nelson also wrote a stolen check for $1,400 and used the victim’s credit card to pay for her rent and make other purchases.

After an investigation, Nelson was arrested on several charges, including robbery by sudden snatching, aggravated battery on a person over 65, forgery, uttering a forged instrument, criminal use of personal identification, fraudulent use of a credit card, and grand theft. She was taken into custody once the check cleared and credit card transactions were posted.

Despite being booked on a $30,000 bond, Nelson was released on Thursday. Sheriff Ivey expressed his disdain for her actions, sarcastically mentioning that she would now have access to a “world-famous one-star dining facility” in jail.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of treating elderly individuals with respect and kindness, especially during the holiday season. It is a cautionary tale about the consequences of greed and violence, and the impact it can have on the lives of others.
