Former ‘super mayor’ Henyard peddling tell-all book while facing lawsuits

Former Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard has recently announced her latest business venture in the form of a “tell-all” autobiography titled “Standing on Business.” This announcement comes amidst a slew of legal troubles that have followed her tumultuous time in office as the “super mayor” of the Chicago suburb.
In a Facebook post, Henyard promised that “the real story is coming” and provided a link for pre-orders of her book, which is priced at $99 and is said to be the first installment in a three-part series. The book is available for purchase on a self-publishing website.
However, Henyard’s constituents were quick to express their skepticism and disappointment with her new business venture. Many took to social media to criticize her, with one commenter calling it a money-making scheme and another comparing the price of her book to Michelle Obama’s bestseller.
Despite the backlash, Henyard remains determined to share her story with the world. Her attorneys have not yet responded to requests for comment on the matter.
Henyard’s legal troubles stem from her time in office as the mayor of Dolton and supervisor of Thornton Township. She recently pleaded the Fifth in a court hearing related to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit. The lawsuit was filed by the Edgar County Watchdogs Inc. after Henyard failed to produce financial records that were requested under federal FOIA laws.
In response to the FBI’s investigation into alleged corruption within her administration, village trustees hired former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot to investigate Henyard’s spending during her tenure. The investigation revealed a significant deficit in the village’s bank account, leading to further scrutiny of Henyard’s actions.
Earlier this year, Henyard lost the mayoral primary to Jason House, who was subsequently sworn into office. On the same day of her election loss, federal authorities issued a subpoena to the Village of Dolton for records related to a land development project allegedly linked to Henyard’s boyfriend.
Despite facing numerous legal challenges and public scrutiny, Henyard remains steadfast in her decision to share her story through her autobiography. As her legal battles continue to unfold, it remains to be seen how her latest business venture will be received by the public.
