Freshman GOP lawmaker reflects on first 90 days in Congress and previews what’s next

Freshman GOP Congressman Gabe Evans sat down for an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital to discuss the first 90 days of the new session of Congress and the accomplishments of the Republican conference thus far. Evans expressed his pride in the unity and success of the Republican party, despite initial doubts from pundits.
“We had a speaker on the first ballot and people said we weren’t gonna be able to do that. We passed the reconciliation resolution out of the House. Folks said that that was gonna be a long shot. And we kept the government funded by passing a clean CR. And so three different times we’ve seen the conference pull together to do things many folks were doubtful that we could get done,” Evans shared.
Evans, a former National Guard captain and police officer, highlighted some of the key issues he has been focusing on in his first three months in Congress. He emphasized his commitment to securing the border, combating the influx of fentanyl, and working to lower crime rates.
One of Evans’ major accomplishments has been the passage of the Halt Fentanyl Act, aimed at addressing the growing fentanyl crisis in the country. He also introduced the Uplift Act, which aims to empower state and local law enforcement to collaborate with federal authorities in targeting violent criminals and cartel members.
Looking ahead, Evans expressed his enthusiasm for continuing to work on important legislation, including the bipartisan Medicare and Medicaid Fraud Prevention Act. He also emphasized the need to address the cost of living, an issue that resonates with his constituents in Colorado.
“We actually just did a town hall earlier this week. We had over 8,500 people dial in and stay on the line for that town hall and we did some just unofficial polling with all of the people who were on the line and the number one issue, no surprise, that came up was cost of living,” Evans said.
In addition to cost of living, Evans highlighted the importance of addressing crime and illegal immigration. He commended President Trump for his efforts in securing the border and cracking down on violent criminals and drug traffickers.
As the new session of Congress progresses, Evans remains committed to delivering on the promises he made to his constituents. With a focus on cost of living, crime prevention, and immigration reform, Evans is determined to make a positive impact in his role as a freshman GOP Congressman.
