Funeral to be held for 3 children killed in Halifax-area house fire

The tragic house fire in Lower Sackville, N.S. claimed the lives of three young children earlier this month. Cayson Jermaine Loppie, 5, Alauna Marie Loppie, 9, and Chloe Margaret “Clo-Clo” Greenough Steiger, 6, were full of innocence and love for life.
Cayson, known as “Casey” in his obituary, had a deep love for superheroes. Described as a sweet yet mischievous boy, he was excited to start primary school and had a special bond with his mother. He enjoyed the color blue, Spiderman, and wrestling with his father. Cayson’s big brown eyes always revealed his playful nature, and he had a unique way of turning KitKats into “KittyKat” bars for many.
Alauna, the older sister, was an “old soul” who cared deeply for her friends and family. She was a talented singer and dancer, competing with her dance team at Motion Dance Center. Her favorite color was purple, and she cherished spending time at BeechBrook Campground with loved ones.
Chloe, the cousin of Cayson and Alauna, had a passion for the outdoors. She enjoyed swimming, fishing, taekwondo, and being a Beaver. Chloe’s love for animals, coloring, puzzles, and playing with dolls and Barbies filled her days with joy. She adored pink and purple, makeup, jewelry, and playing with her brother’s monster trucks.
The children will be dearly missed by their parents, siblings, and extended family. A funeral for all three will be held at Rock Church in Lower Sackville, N.S., with a live stream available for those unable to attend in person.
The cause of the fire is not believed to be suspicious, according to Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency. While Steiger and a two-year-old child escaped unharmed, Loppie was rescued by a neighbor and hospitalized in stable condition. An online fundraiser for the family has raised over $140,000 to support them in this difficult time.
The heartbreaking loss of Cayson, Alauna, and Chloe has left a void in the community. Their love for life, family, and simple joys will forever be remembered by those who knew them. May their spirits live on in the memories of those who loved them dearly.
