Giants’ Dexter Lawrence suffers dislocated elbow as team’s miserable season continues
The New York Giants suffered a devastating blow on Thanksgiving as they became the first NFL team to be eliminated from playoff contention this season. To make matters worse, star defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence suffered a season-ending dislocated elbow in the team’s 27-20 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
After the game, Lawrence was seen wearing a sling, and Giants head coach Brian Daboll confirmed that it was a “long-term” scenario. With just five games left in the season, Lawrence’s impressive year will come to an early end, finishing with a career-high nine sacks, ranking him sixth in the NFL.
Despite some initial struggles in his first three seasons, Lawrence found his stride under Daboll’s coaching and was named a second-team All-Pro in the last two seasons. Last year, he even placed ninth in the NFL Defensive Player of the Year voting.
The Giants have been plagued by injuries all season, with key players like Kayvon Thibodeaux, Azeez Ojulari, and Andrew Thomas dealing with various setbacks. Even quarterback Tommy DeVito, who started his first game of the season last Sunday, injured his forearm, keeping him out of the Thanksgiving matchup.
With a record of 2-10, the Giants currently hold the No. 1 pick in next year’s NFL Draft. Lawrence’s early offseason will give him time to recover and prepare for the 2025 season, while the rest of the team looks to regroup and finish the season strong.
As the Giants look ahead to the future, fans can only hope for a healthier and more successful season next year. Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage for all the latest updates and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter for more exclusive content.
