GOP-led Senate confirming Trump’s picks faster than Biden admin, first Trump term

The confirmation process for President Donald Trump’s nominees is moving at a rapid pace, despite efforts by Democrats to slow it down. The Republican-led Senate, under the leadership of Sen. John Thune, R-S.D., is confirming nominees at a record speed. Compared to the previous two administrations of former President Joe Biden and Trump’s first term, the current administration has already confirmed 11 positions, with more on the way.
On Feb. 4, Pam Bondi was confirmed as attorney general, with Doug Collins approved as secretary of veterans affairs. Tulsi Gabbard and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. are next in line for their confirmation votes after successful committee hearings. Following them, nine more nominees await confirmation.
Sen. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., provided an update on the confirmation progress, highlighting the efficiency of the process. Several Republican senators have expressed their commitment to keeping up the pace until all nominees are confirmed. Sen. Katie Britt, R-Ala., praised the Senate GOP for delivering results and confirmed that they are moving faster than the Biden administration or Trump’s first term. Sen. Steve Daines, R-Mon., emphasized that the Senate is ahead of schedule and determined to continue the momentum.
The last administration to have all nominees swiftly confirmed was former President George W. Bush, whose entire Cabinet was in place by Feb. 1. Trump’s first term saw all nominees confirmed by the end of April, similar to former President Barack Obama’s timeline, while Biden’s Cabinet was filled by March 22.
The Senate Republicans Communication Center provided a chart showing the pace of nominees confirmed, illustrating the efficiency of the current process. With the dedication of Senate Republicans and the leadership of Sen. Thune, President Trump’s nominees are being confirmed at an unprecedented rate, ensuring that key positions in the administration are quickly filled.
