Barrie Police says that accused murderer, displayed victims lived in the same homeless camp

Two Men Found Disintegrated in Barrie Homeless Camp

Barrie, Ontario – Two men who were previously killed and disintegrated previously lived in the same homeless camp in Barrie, Ontario, as the suspect accused of their alleged murders, the police say.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Barrie Police Chief Rich Johnston described the murders as an ‘isolated incident’, and said that the police are not looking for other victims or suspects.

“Barrie is a safe community. Incidents such as these are shocking and shaking our community understandably, but they are extremely rare,” said Chief Johnston.

However, the police refused to say what their investigation has discovered about the apparent motives of the accused, Robert Ladouceur, 52, and did not give any details about the alleged murders on William (Blake) Robinson, 45 or David (Kyle) Cheesequay, 41.

Mr. Ladouceur was arrested in Midland, Ontario, on August 2, after trying to flee in a vehicle. He has a “violent” criminal history and is known to the police, said Sergeant Brett Carleton on Tuesday. He is confronted with 33 charges, including murder of the first and second degree, two counts of indignation for a dead body and other gun, theft and drug trafficking- none of all have been tested for the court.

The police investigation began in February after Mr. Robinson’s family, who had not heard of him since January, reported him missing. Mr. Cheesequay was missing at the end of July.

The investigation occurred on July 30 when the police received a tip about a missing person, which led them to a camp in a large wooded area in Barrie.

Researchers later expanded their search to a national property in Huntsville, Ontario, and a house in North Simcoe County, where they collected evidence, Chief Johnston said.

The suspect and the two victims knew each other and lived in the camp at some point in the last two or three years, the police said. It is believed that the murders were targeted.

Human remains were found on both the Barrie Camp and the property in Huntsville, the police said, without providing further details.

In a press release earlier this month, the city of Barrie said that the camp was cleared during the police investigation, and city staff are working with community partners to find housing for those who were displaced.

Sgt. Carleton thanked those who spoke with the police and urged anyone with more information to come forward as the investigation continues.
