Ukraine launches biggest drone attack on Moscow as US talks begin

Ukraine launched its largest-ever drone attack on Moscow on Tuesday, causing chaos and destruction in the Russian capital. The attack, which saw a total of 337 drones shot down over Russia, resulted in the death of two Miratorg employees and injuries to 18 others, including three children. The residential buildings in Moscow and the Kursk region bordering Ukraine were hit, leading to damage to cars and apartment buildings, as well as the temporary shutdown of Moscow’s four airports.
In response, Russia reportedly launched a ballistic missile and 126 drones at Ukraine, escalating the conflict between the two countries. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin described the drone attack as the biggest to target his city so far.
As the drone attack unfolded, a senior Ukrainian delegation met with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz in Saudi Arabia for talks about ending the war with Russia. The delegation, which included key figures such as Andriy Yermak, Andrii Sybiha, Pavlo Palisa, and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, discussed the possibility of signing a mineral deal sought by President Donald Trump and proposing a ceasefire covering the Black Sea.
Rubio emphasized the importance of establishing Ukraine’s intentions and desire for peace, stressing the need for Kyiv to be prepared to make difficult decisions, such as giving up seized territory, in order to end the three-year war. The focus of the meeting was on achieving peace, with the mineral deal being an important but not the main topic on the agenda.
The situation remains tense as both countries navigate the complexities of the conflict and strive to find a path to peace. The delegation’s discussions in Saudi Arabia are crucial in determining the future of the conflict and the potential for a resolution. As the world watches and waits for developments, the outcome of these talks could have far-reaching implications for the region and beyond.
