Halifax police looking for suspect in scam targeting seniors
HALIFAX, NS — Police are warning residents of scams targeting senior citizens across the region and are releasing photos of a suspect in a recent incident.
On July 12, the Halifax Regional Police Department said a resident received a call from someone posing as a relative in jail. The victim was then contacted by another person, who claimed to be involved in the justice system.
They said the victim had to pay money to release their loved one and arranged for them to collect the money in person.
The suspect is described as a black man of average build who wore blue pants, black shoes and an orange and black Columbia jacket with a yellow hood.
