Federal judge sentences two who pleaded guilty in Pennsylvania voter fraud case

A recent case of voting fraud in Millbourne Borough has resulted in harsh prison sentences for two individuals involved in the scheme. Former Millbourne Borough Council vice president Md Nurul Hasan and council member MD Rafikul Islam pleaded guilty to charges related to an election fraud scheme during the 2021 mayoral race.

Despite their efforts to manipulate the election results, Hasan ultimately lost the mayoral race. Judge Harvey Bartle III condemned their actions, stating that they had undermined the democratic process. Hasan received a sentence of 36 months in prison, one year of supervised release, and a $3,300 special assessment, while Islam was sentenced to 12 months and one day in prison, one year of supervised release, a $1,000 fine, and a $700 special assessment.

The sentences imposed by the judge were more severe than what the government had requested, highlighting the seriousness of the crimes committed. Hasan resigned from the council earlier this year after entering his plea, while Islam also faced the consequences of his involvement in the fraud scheme.

Another council member, Md Munsur Ali, who is currently listed as a member of the Millbourne Borough council, has also pleaded guilty in the case. He is set to be sentenced next week for his role in the election fraud scheme.

The case serves as a reminder of the importance of upholding the integrity of the electoral process. The judge’s strong stance against voting fraud sends a clear message that such actions will not be tolerated. As we move forward, it is crucial to protect the sanctity of the democratic process and ensure that every vote counts.
