Air Canada has marked the beginning of peak holiday travel, with the busiest days expected to be from December 19 to December 23. The airline anticipates moving over two million passengers throughout the holiday season, operating 1,000 flights daily.

Despite the favorable weather conditions on Thursday, airport operations staff remain vigilant as a weekend weather system threatens rain and snow across the province. The on-duty manager’s office plays a crucial role in managing concerns such as runway updates, snow clearing, and gate assignments, especially during challenging weather conditions.

Wayne Morris, the director of operations at the airport, emphasized the importance of effective coordination and communication during busy days, ensuring smooth operations and minimal disruptions for travelers.

As travelers prepare to head back to their daily lives after the holiday season, the St. John’s International Airport remains committed to providing a safe and efficient travel experience for all passengers.
