White House urges GOP states to build ‘Alligator Alcatraz’ centers

The White House and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis are encouraging Republican states across the nation to follow Florida’s lead and install their own versions of “Alligator Alcatraz” – a remote detention facility for illegal immigrants located in the heart of the Everglades. This move comes as part of a broader effort to crack down on illegal immigration and deport criminal aliens from the United States.
Some red states are already warming up to the idea or already have new detention facilities in the works. Alaska, for example, has expressed interest in the concept but noted that they would have to come up with a different approach since they don’t have alligators but rather bears. South Carolina, on the other hand, is fully on board with the idea, with Republican Rep. Nancy Mace expressing enthusiasm for bringing Alligator Alcatraz to the state.
Numerous other states, including Georgia, Arkansas, Idaho, and Texas, have also indicated plans to roll out their own versions of the detention facility. Georgia, for instance, recently announced plans to build the largest detention facility in the nation, while Arkansas is in the process of constructing a new 3,000-bed prison. South Carolina and Idaho are also making moves to support President Trump’s deportation efforts by providing detention space.
White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller has urged all Republican governors to follow DeSantis’ lead and erect their own versions of Alligator Alcatraz. He emphasized the importance of collaborating with the Department of Homeland Security to build facilities that can facilitate the deportation of criminal illegal aliens. The White House spokesperson, Abigail Jackson, echoed this sentiment, stating that the nation would benefit from more facilities like Alligator Alcatraz to expedite the removal of violent offenders.
President Trump himself visited the Florida Everglades to tour the Alligator Alcatraz facility, which can house up to 5,000 illegal immigrants. The detention center, located in the heart of the Everglades, has been outfitted with sturdy tent structures and is surrounded by miles of treacherous swampland, making it difficult for detainees to escape. Trump praised the facility for its role in deporting dangerous individuals back to their home countries.
DeSantis has called on fellow Republican governors to follow his lead and build their own versions of Alligator Alcatraz. He emphasized the need for red states to step up and implement similar solutions to address the ongoing immigration crisis. The construction of these detention facilities marks a significant effort to enhance national security and ensure the safety of American citizens.
