Police and federal officers in the Columbia district have made 465 arrests since the federal government took over the capital of the nation last week.
Fifty-two arrests and nine attacks of firearms were made just in the night from August 18 to August 19. The suspects include MS-13 gang members, according to the Minister of White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt in her briefing of August 19.
Since the federal government took control of policing in the District of Columbia, law enforcement officials have been working tirelessly to restore order and ensure the safety of residents and visitors. The efforts have resulted in over 460 arrests being made, with a significant number of those being individuals associated with dangerous gangs like MS-13.
According to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, the night of August 18 saw a particularly high number of arrests, with 52 individuals taken into custody and nine firearms seized. This proactive approach to law enforcement is aimed at cracking down on criminal activity and making the streets of DC safer for everyone.
The presence of National Guard members patrolling key locations like the Washington Monument is a visible reminder of the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order in the nation’s capital. The swift and decisive actions taken by law enforcement have already had a positive impact, and efforts will continue to ensure that DC remains a safe and secure place for all.
